Glen Ridge Crime: Reported Bomb Threat, Assault, Burglary

Incident: Simple Assault
Description:
Officers were dispatched to Carteret Park on a report of an assault. The victim was approached by two juvenile males in Carteret Park. The three juveniles exchanged words and the victim left the park in an attempt to go home. Victim reported that he was chased from the park and was assaulted by the two suspect juveniles. The suspects are described as white male juveniles, wearing shorts, dark colored t-shirts and shoes. Anyone with information regarding this incident can contact Det. Incident: Burglary/Criminal Mischief
Description:
Officers were dispatched to Hillside Ave. on a report of criminal mischief. The victim reported that they were painting a bench in front of the residence before leaving the house. When they returned, unknown suspect(s) entered the vestibule to the residence and spray painted the walls. Incident: Criminal Mischief
Description:
Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Forest Ave. and the 400 block of Ridgewood Ave. on reports of criminal mischief. All victims reported that they all had no Verizon Fios service. It was determined that the lines were cut at the pole by a suspect. The suspect, Anne Podesta, 53 of Glen Ridge, N.J. has been charged with criminal mischief and the case is still under investigation by the detective bureau.

Incident: Bomb Threat
Description:
Officers were dispatched to Mountainside Hospital on a reported bomb threat. Hospital security received a call of a bomb threat and notified the police. Officers secured the area and with the assistance of the Essex County Sheriff Bomb Unit. Officers conducted a search of the hospital with negative results for any suspicious packages. The matter is under investigation by the detective bureau.

During this week the Glen Ridge Police Department investigated (5) motor vehicle accidents which resulted in no injuries.
