“I will run a campaign that won’t worry about what is popular, but what is right. What is right is what will fix America.”

He joins 13 other Republicans to declare a presidential candidacy.

Officer F. “Rikki” Cook of Montclair Police Department’s Community Service Unit (CSU) served as a panelist for the “Today’s Man Expo II” hosted by Mr. Charles Dixon held on Jun 20 at Trinity Temple Church located at 115 Greenwood Avenue. The event was well attended by men (20 – 85 years of age). Officer Cook fielded law enforcement questions, as well as how the CSU works to build positive police/community relations.

Pitty Rescue, Inc. to Hold Summer Yard Sale Fundraiser in July 11

PRI YardSale 6.2015Pitty Rescue, Inc., a charitable nonprofit rescue organization, is holding a summer yard sale to help raise funds for the dogs currently residing in its two rescue locations of New Jersey and North Carolina. The summer yard sale will take place on Saturday, July 11 and Sunday, July 12, 2015 from 9 am to 3 pm both days at Paradise Pet Store, located at 48 West Passaic Avenue in Bloomfield.

Pitty Rescue is asking for donations of clean, functional and appropriate items for resale prior to the yard sale. Donated items can be dropped off at Paradise Pet Store during regular business hours. Please refrain from donating clothes or tiny knick-knacks for the yard sale.

“We appreciate all the donations and support from our friends in the community who help the animals at Pitty Rescue and other rescues in need,” remarked Gina Ugaro, co-chair of the yard sale and Acting Operations Lead For North East. “Every donation counts and every dollar goes towards the care and supplies for the dogs.”

Wednesday nights at Flood Hill in South Orange are the place to be. For twenty years, Free Concerts in the Park has entertained families and visitors to South Orange each Wednesday night in July. Now under a new name, with expanded opportunities for fun, South Orange Summer Nights presents “Taste the Music”–concerts, food trucks, and activities for kids and families.

The music, featuring an exciting line-up of some of today’s top performers in soul, reggae, pop, rock ‘n roll and more begins at 7:30 pm and is free to attend, no tickets required. In the event of inclement weather, all events will be canceled.

One Wild FUNdraiser at Turtle Back Zoo

Big Brother Big Sisters: Juan Lopez, a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Essex, Hudson & Union Counties, teachers his Little Brother and mentee, Carlos Reyes, how to sink a hole in one at the Turtle Back Zoo’s Mini Golf Classic on Saturday, June 20.  The first annual event raised over $100,000 to support the Zoo’s Education Center.

The fundraiser was hosted at the Essex County miniGOLF Safari at the Essex County South Mountain Recreational Complex in West Orange, and raised over $100,000.

Officers were dispatched to Woodland Ave. on a report of a burglary. The victim reported that unknown suspect(s) entered a work trailer and the residence sometime during the night.
