Monday night at The Manor was nothing short of festive, fun and fabulous. As the inaugural event for the Montclair Food & Wine Festival, the evening set the tone for the remaining events this week.
The packed, exquisite sit-down dinner, was a testament to the rock-star following many of our local chefs have. Not only did the many chefs produce imaginative and delicious fare, many showed their entertaining personalities and showmanship stepping up to the mike during the meal.
Champagne and light appetizers served in the gorgeous atrium of The Manor warmed up the crowd. Amanti Vino’s Sharon Sevrens prepared the wine pairings for each course of the menu.
The four chefs preparing the amuse-bouches took their task literally – with a very clever presentation of the four mini bites including a goat cheese panna cotta bite concealed inside a black oval (plastic) river stone.
Amidst the fabulous food frenzy guests were encouraged to open their hearts and their wallets to support the St. Joseph’s pediatric unit, Intensive Therapeutics, and MACHE – a culinary scholarship fund at Montclair High started by MFWF. And did they ever open up – more than $25,000 was raised during an exciting live auction.
