Over the past five years, the Montclair Film Festival has grown tremendously. What started as a week-long festival in 2012, has expanded to a 10 day event with over 150 films, events, and parties at the 2015 festival this past May. Add the many events throughout the year that MFF offers and it’s no wonder that the growing organization needed more space.

This month, MFF moved from its headquarters at 494 Bloomfield Avenue to a larger home in the Hillside Square building at 8 Hillside Square, a renovated 1926 former church turned Silver LEED certified office building, just one block from Montclair’s central business district.

The space, which was formerly occupied by local filmmaker Dawn Porter, now has MFF’s signature green and yellow colors and lots of movie posters.  A community area and separate offices for the staff make for a more conducive work environment.  There’s also a kitchenette and access to a shared conference space located in the center lobby of the building.

This new space for MFF is in addition to their building at 505 Bloomfield Avenue, which was donated to MFF by Investors Bank. MFF has big plans for that building and are starting on, what they hope to be, a two year project to turn it into their main headquarters and an event/screening venue.

“As we work to build a new permanent home for the MFF, we were so happy to find a space that fits our needs and allows our year-round staff a place to thrive as professionals,” said Tom Hall, Executive Director.

Meredith Ladov, MFF Managing Director, agrees and mentions another great perk. “As our staff and organization continue to grow, this temporary space provides our team with the ability to work both privately and collaboratively. And, parking is a bonus as well!”
