Montclair Library's 7th Annual Little Read: A Great Success!

Montclair was all about books, reading and fun this past weekend at the 7th Annual Little Read. Over the two days of the event, 450 children were read to by 50 readers at seven locations. New this year was the Fulton street location of the Montclair Child Development Center, the Montclair Community Pre-K and the Upper Montclair Firehouse.

Montclair Library offers this statement of thanks:

Thank you Montclair for making the 7th Annual Little Read such a success. A special thanks to all our readers, including Frankie Faison, who brought down the house reading “Interrupting Chicken” at our “Bedtime Stories” Friday evening.

Thank you to our sponsors who made this event possible. Scholastic has been a key partner and lead sponsor since the event’s inception in 2009. We were thrilled this year to get tremendous community support from Baristanet, Boiling Springs Savings Bank, Rose Cali, Rosemary and Al Iversen, Montclair Bread Company, Montclair Film Festival, Montclair Rotary Foundation, Montclair State University, and Partners for Health.

Most importantly, all funds raised will be used to underwrite the 2016 Children’s Summer Reading program. This past summer saw 1,000 children and young adults read over 15,000 books.
