SAVE of Essex County (formerly called the Rape Crisis Center) is in jeopardy of closing due to a shortage of funding. A Crowdrise fundraising campaign has been set up to help keep this very important resource open.
SAVE, a program under the Family Service League umbrella, is New Jersey’s designated rape care center for Essex County with a team of highly trained volunteer advocates who offer a 24/7 hotline number for survivors of sexual violence and their families to access for help. SAVE provides hotline referrals for counseling. It also provides accompaniments to the emergency room during a rape kit exam, to the police department during any questioning, to court for any proceedings that may take place, or to any combination of the three. In addition, SAVE works to educate the community on sexual violence prevention through education and advocacy.
