Opera Theatre of Montclair Presents The Abduction From The Seraglio

The Abduction From The Seraglio

Opera Theatre of Montclair will present full-length, fully-staged and costumed performances with an orchestra of Mozart’s comedic The Abduction From The Seraglio (“Die Entführung aus dem Serail”) beginning this Friday, February 12 through February 20.

The Abduction From The Seraglio will be sung in the original German with English subtitles and dialogue and be conducted by German maestro Markus Grae-Hauck, a local favorite as well as an international conductor.

The production is triple-cast, and includes several international-level singers as well as recent graduates of prestigious conservatories.  Several cast members are residents of or students in our Montclair community: Louis Balsamo, Mia Balsamo, Kevin Barbone, Tai Collins, Lila Hunter, Ilberto Lagana, Sheldrake Lukas, Geoffrey Owens and Cadence Rotarius.  Stage design is by Joyce Korotkin.  Technical direction is by Tom Norrie.

This new family-friendly staging retells the classic story of the Turkish harem, pirates and rescued lovers through the eyes of a child’s nighttime dream.
