Glen Ridge Crime: Garage Burglaries, Motor Vehicle Crash, DUI Arrest

crimeWith several reported burglaries to detached garages resulting in stolen bicycles over the last few weeks, the Glen Ridge Police Department would like to remind residents to ensure that their garages are secured during the evening hours in an effort to prevent thefts. Residents are also encouraged to report any suspicious activity to the police department and too document any serial numbers and types of bicycles.

Incident: Burglary
Description:
Officer Romaine was dispatched to a Ridgewood Avenue address on the report of a burglary which occurred on March 21st, 2016. Upon arrival, the victim advised that an unknown person entered his residence and removed his cell phone. This matter is under investigation and anyone with information can contact Det. Description:
Officer Rivera responded to the area of Clark Street on a report of a theft. The victim advised that an unknown person removed two packages from the front porch at approximately 4:30PM. Incident: Criminal Trespass
Description:
Officers were dispatched to the area of Hamilton Road for a report of an unknown person observed in the resident’s driveway. Upon arrival, the party had left the scene. The male was described as wearing dark clothing and having fled west on Hamilton Road. This matter is under investigation and anyone with information can contact Det. Incident: Motor Vehicle Crash
Description:
Officers responded to the area of Bloomfield Avenue and Hillside Avenue for a motor vehicle accident where a pedestrian was struck. Upon arrival, the victim was transported to the hospital and the driver remained on scene. This matter is currently under investigation and anyone who witnessed the motor vehicle accident is asked to contact Sgt. Merritt Carr at 973-748-5400 x 124.

Description:
Officer Perigo was dispatched to a Washington Street address on the report of a burglary to a garage. Description:
Officer Roberts was dispatched to Douglas Road where he met with the complainant who reported that she was being harassed by a former acquaintance. The victim advised that a gray Subaru driven by the acquaintance approached her and started verbally harassing her. This matter is under investigation and anyone with information can contact Det. Incident: Driving Under the Influence
Description:
Officer Holley was dispatched to Edgewood Road for a reported motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, it was determined that the operator of the vehicle, Mr. Jason Josaphat, 26 years if age of Kissimmee, FL was operating a motor vehicle under the influence. He was subsequently arrested and charged with D.W.I., he was later released and the matter has been referred to Municipal Court.

During this week the Glen Ridge Police Department investigated (7) motor vehicle accidents.
