Meagan Coomber of Montclair and Courtney Reenstra of Hoboken are the women behind Birdling Bags, a company that offers stylish, high-quality, made in NJ travel bags.
Longtime childhood friends, the two women decided to start their own business just a couple of years ago after Courtney complained about the hassle she had packing for a trip with her then 9 month old baby in tow. Frustrated with unorganized bags, she went to Meagan with an idea for a stylish, compartmentalized bag. The two decided to start their own venture and Birdling Bags was hatched.
Birdling Bags is a truly local company. The bags are created by NJ born and raised women and manufactured in Union City, NJ. Coomber and Reenstra also hire locally to promote their bags —both Montclair photographer Natalie Chitwood and Essex Fells photographer Audrey Blake Breheney have helped create gorgeous product and lifestyle photos.
Birdling Bags have cleverly designed pockets and interior sections to keep things organized. They are made of durable canvas & waxed canvas, come in stylish modern colors, and have nice accents —such as leather hand grips and brass hardware.
The largest bag in Birdling’s collection is The Weekender ($225). With it’s three Nylon interior dividers and four exterior pockets, it can easily accommodate a week long trip for one or multiple family members on a shorter weekend getaway. Smaller options available are The Overnighter ($175), The Daytripper ($105), and the just launched Mini Daytripper ($75). There is also an Essentials Kit bag ($65) to hold your toiletries.
Birdlign Bags can be purchased online, and will be available at The Walnut Street Fair coming this April.
