Three cheers for the weekend! Saturday is jam-packed with activities for the whole family, while Sunday is a light. But there’s plenty of fun to go around, so check out these great events!
East Side Mags (7 South Fullerton Avenue, Montclair) with Montclair Skillshare will host Get In Toon! with Michael Grassia on Saturday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Meet Michael and get your hands on some all-ages indie comics. From 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, he will work with kids of all ages to teach about cartoon-style art and art supplies. Admission to the presentation is free but space is limited, so plan to arrive early!
Also on Saturday, the Montclair Public Library (50 South Fullerton Avenue, Montclair) will host The Magic Conductor’s Reading Adventure: The Caboose Mystery with Magician Steve Woyce at 2:00 PM. Join Steve for a fun-filled program that combines magic, comedy, storytelling, and audience participation. No registration is required but space is limited. All are welcome but preference is given to Montclair Library Cardholders. Please bring your card.
If you’re looking for some Easter events on Saturday, including the Watchung Plaza Egg Hunt (Montlcair), the Sixth Annual Spring Fling (Montclair), and Storytime with the Easter Bunny at Turtle Back Zoo (West Orange), check out this post from earlier this month. For a different type of Easter Egg Hunt, the Meadowlands Museum (91 Crane Avenue, Rutherford) will host a hunt dedicated to finding American History Facts on Saturday from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. They promise it will be “eggucational.”
The Growing Stage, the Children’s Theatre of New Jersey (7 Ledgewood Avenue, Netcong), will present James and the Giant Peach: The Musical based on the book by Roald Dahl on Saturday at 4:00 PM. Designed for the whole family to enjoy, the story centers on James who finds himself inside the center of a giant peach among human-sized insects. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for children.
