Glen Ridge Crime: Arrest of Suspect of Several Garage Burglaries, DUI Arrest, Shoplifting

Date/Time: 3/28/2016 @ 2:00 PM
Incident: Burglary Arrest
Description: While investigating the current Garage Burglaries, Detective Ryan Schwartz identified a suspect.  Shortly thereafter, Detective Schwartz was advised that a neighboring jurisdiction had arrested the suspect.  Through investigation and speaking with Mr. Daniel Moore, 51, of East Orange, NJ, he was arrested and charged with five counts of Burglary and theft.  The matter is currently still under investigation and the Detective Bureau is attempting to connect him to additional burglaries.   This matter has been referred to the Essex County Superior Court.

Incident: Burglary
Description: Officer Grogan was dispatched to a Highland Avenue address on the report of a burglary which occurred sometime in the past two weeks.  Upon arrival, the victim advised that an unknown person entered his detached garage and removed his sons bicycle.  This matter is under investigation and anyone with information can contact Det. Michael Medico at 973-748-5400 x 117

Incident: Shoplifting
Description: Officer Grogan responded to a local store on Bloomfield Avenue on a report of a theft in progress.  Upon arrival, Mr. Josh Liggins, 36 years of age of Orange, NJ was taken into custody for shoplifting.  This matter  has been turned over to the Glen Ridge Municipal Court.

Incident: Criminal Mischief
Description: Officer Perigo was dispatched to Gray Street on a report of criminal mischief which occurred on March 13, 2016.  He met with the victim who advised that an unknown person poured concrete mix on his vehicle during the evening hours of 3/13/16.  The matter is currently under investigation and anyone who has information is asked to contact Det. Ryan Schwartz at 973-748-5400 x 119

Incident: Receiving Stolen Property
Description: Officer’s conducted a motor vehicle stop on Bloomfield Avenue and upon investigation identified that the driver was operating the motor vehicle with stolen license plates.   Mr. Maurice Walker, 35 years of age, of East Orange, NJ was taken into custody and charged with receiving stolen property.  The matter has been turned over to the Glen Ridge Municipal Court.

Incident: Driving Under the Influence
Description: Detective Ryan Schwartz observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign.  The driver Mr. Darren Robinson, 54 of Montclair, was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.   The matter has been turned over to the Glen Ridge Municipal Court.

Incident: Possession of CDS
Description: Sgt. Manley was checking the area of Inness Place when he observed a party who was acting suspicious.   While speaking with the party it was determined that he was intoxicated and in the possession of a controlled dangerous substance.   Mr. David Blakely, 25, of Montclair was arrested and charged with possession of CDS.  The matter has been turned over to the Glen Ridge Municipal Court.

Garage Burglaries – There have been several reported burglaries to detached garages over the last few weeks where bicycles have been stolen.   The Glen Ridge Police Department would like to remind residents to ensure that their garages are secured during the evening hours in an effort to prevent thefts.    Residents are also encouraged to report any suspicious activity to the police department and too document any serial numbers and types of bicycles.    

 During this week the Glen Ridge Police Department investigated (2) motor vehicle accidents.
