The Friends of Barnet is a community organization dedicated to fostering the relationship between Montclair, NJ, USA and our sister city, the London Borough of Barnet, UK. Originally forged amidst the Second World War, the relationship between Montclair and Barne became an official town twinning in 1981. Children from Finchley in the London borough of Barnet were evacuated to live in Montclair. To commemorate that event, the FOB and our sister organization the Friends of Montclair exchange both high school students and adults as part of a cultural exchange program on a regular basis.

This past weekend, a group of adults from Barnet were given a tour of our town and surrounding area.  They were treated to a Portuguese lunch in Newark-Iron bound, were given a tour of the Iris Presby house, and much more around town. They were also shown what a beautiful historic Montclair home looks like when they visited 88 Lorraine Avenue.

Built in 1899 and updated over the years, the 6-bedroom home retains its architectural details including large wrap around porch, high ceilings, original pocket doors, stone fireplace and stained glass window installed by the original owner-builder. 88 Lorraine is currently owned by Louis and Gloria Taub, who are relocating to Denver after their daughters graduate from MHS this spring. The home is currently on the market, listed by Paula Doyle, Keller Williams at $1,299,000.
