Baristanet Fourth of July Guide to Parades, Picnics, & Fireworks


 Fourth of July

Next Monday, July 4,  we celebrate our country’s independence and we have the 411 on local parades, picnics, and firework shows:

Parade, Family Picnic, & FireworksMontclair will host its 66th annual Independence Day parade celebrations with spectacular performances and entertainment on Monday, July 4. Jeh Johnson, U.S. Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, will lead the parade as Grand Marshal. The parade begins at 11 am along a 1.6-mile route traveling west on Bloomfield Avenue to Midland Avenue, continuing to Watchung Avenue, west to Valley Road and ending at Edgemont Park, where the annual Family Picnic will be held. The Montclair July 4th Fireworks display will take place at Yogi Berra Stadium on Montclair State University campus. The stadium admission fee is $3 per person or $10 for a family (family = up to 6 people; $2 per person beyond 6), free for kids ages 5 and under. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. Free parking will be available at the Carparc Diem deck, adjacent to Floyd Hall Arena and at the Red Hawk parking deck.

POSTPONED: Because of threatening weather, the concert featuring AM Gold and the Fireworks Spectacular scheduled for tonight in Essex County Brookdale Park has been postponed and rescheduled to Tuesday, July 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Brookdale Park. Celebrating the 4th with fun and fireworks at Foley Field on Monday, July 4. There will be  rides, amusements, face painting and a wide variety of food vendors making all of the traditional carnival fare (for purchase). Opening ceremonies and awards kick off at 7:30 pm. Immediately following the ceremonies, music will be performed by the Bell Bottom Blues: A Tribute to Eric Clapton. Fireworks begin at approximately 9:30 pm.

West Orange
The “Lefty” Boland Fun Meet kicks it off at 6:30 pm on Monday, July 4. Following the meet is a live music concert and a second-to-none traditional fireworks display. Pony rides, snack bar, novelties, kiddie attractions and much more at West Orange High School Athletic Complex.

The annual fireworks celebration, sponsored by the communities of Caldwell, Essex Fells, North Caldwell, Roseland and West Caldwell takes place on Monday, July 4 beginning at 7 pm.  DJ Dan Duca will provide entertainment for the event at James Caldwell High School Bonnel Field. Cost: Adults $3 / Kids 12 and under $1
