the corner

The Corner (115 Grove Street, Montclair), a favorite for breakfast and lunch, has announced it will soon open for dinner Thursday – Saturday night. The owners tell Baristanet that they are recipe testing for the expanded dinner menu to begin service. They don’t have a confirmed launch date yet, but will  keep us posted.

aki asian house

Aki Asian House has opened at 70 Washington Street in Bloomfield and the reviews are excellent. Plus, how cute are these chopstick holders? Baristanet reader Anne Prince raves about the place and has been several times. Her picks are the Gyoza (“I could eat these all day long! Extremely light, nicely seasoned and perfectly crispy.”), the Sushi Pizza (“Fresh fish served on a bed of seaweed salad and a yummy scallion pancake and some sort of delicious sauce that you want to lick off the plate.”), and the Sashimi, which she says is nice and fresh and that the owner mentioned that although they can get their fish delivered, they prefer to go directly to the Fulton Fish Market to make their own selections and go every morning. But she really raves about the dessert.

fujiya ramen

Fujiya Ramen has opened at 413 Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair offering another ramen option a few doors down from Ani Ramen. Note to vegetarians: There aren’t many options, as most of the ramen is made in pork bone broth.
