Name: Barry Hartsfield

Where do you live? Montclair

When did you move there? I grew up here, 3rd generation.

How do you make a living? Account Executive at a software company. It’s a platform that allows companies to control and manage their expenses.

Coffee, tea or … ? Definitely coffee and  light and sweet.

What’s your idea of a perfect Saturday? Breakfast and coffee from Hot Bagels Abroad on Valley Road, a trip to Edgemont or Brookdale Park so my 6 year old son can play with his friends., watching college football, and having a few adult beverages with friends.

What’s your favorite local restaurant? Ray’s on Walnut Street, Egan’s and Nauna’s.

What’s on your nightstand? Cornell West’s Black Prophetic Fire and Days of Grace by Arthur Ashe

What are you listening to? John Coltrane – A Love Supreme, Eric B. & Rakim – Paid in Full, and Prince – Sign O the Times.

What are your current addictions? Toasties from Egan’s and working out at NYSC.

Talent you would most like to have. I wish I could sing. I have a deep radio voice, but can’t carry a tune.

What’s the worst-kept secret about Montclair? That it’s a diverse town, and great place to raise a family.

What do you hope they say about you at your funeral? He was an excellent father, husband, and loved helping kids catch their dreams and attend college.
