Bloomfield Crime: Aggravated Assault With a Meat Cleaver, Shoplifting, Several Stolen Cars, Arrests

Bloomfield Police DepartmentAn argument at a Chinese restaurant resulted in an aggravated assault with a meat cleaver:

On 08/26/2016-Police were dispatched to 135 Bloomfield Ave, No. 1 Chinese Restaurant on a reported argument between 2 employees. The victim was assaulted with a meat cleaver resulting in a minor cut to the back of his neck. The victim was treated by EMS at the scene. The suspect left the restaurant prior to police arrival. Detectives were able to contact the suspect, who later turned himself in at the Bloomfield Police Headquarters. Kwei Dong Yang age 46 of Bloomfield was charged with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose.

Theft

08/22/2016- A bicycle valued at $300.00 dollars was reported stolen from the backyard of a residence on Washington Street.

08/22/2016- A wallet was reported stolen from the Aldi Food Store located at 244 Bloomfield Ave. The wallet was unknowingly dropped while the owner was shopping. A Hispanic female was captured on store video picking up the wallet and exiting the store. Video forwarded to Detective Bureau for further investigation.

08/22/2016- A martial arts sword used for competition was stolen from a vehicle parked in the driveway on Hyde Road. The sword was left on the front passenger seat. The vehicle was possibly left unlocked.

08/23/2016-A shoplifting incident was reported at the Aldi Food Store located at 244 Bloomfield Ave. The suspect described as a black male in his 40’s concealed food items and fled the store. A check of the area proved to be negative for the suspect. Active investigation.

08/24/2016- James Jennings age 58 of Newark was arrested at 8:35am and charged with Shoplifting. The incident occurred at the Stop & Shop Store located at 8 Franklin Street. Belleville PD located the suspect in front of the McDonalds. He was charged with the theft in Bloomfield along with Belleville charges of Resisting Arrest and Obstructing. Mr. Jennings also had 3 active warrants out of the city of Newark.

08/24/2016-Kevin Hobby age 58 of Newark was arrested at 7:00pm and charged with Shoplifting. PO Nadar Sarabamoun was dispatched to the CVS Store located at 331 Broad Street on a shoplifter, who locked himself in the bathroom. Upon Officers arrival the shoplifter exited the bathroom and walked out of the store through a rear door. He was located and found to be in possession of the proceeds. Mr. Hobby was transported to police headquarters. He was issued a court date and ROR.

08/26/2016-Roberto Fulco age 64 of East Orange was arrested at 9:48am and charged with Shoplifting at the Home Depot Store. Loss Prevention witnessed Mr. Fulco conceal a Ryobi drill valued at $40.00 dollars and exit the store. He was detained until the arrival of police. Mr. Fulco was issued a summons and ROR with a court date.

08/26/2016- A package theft occurred in the area of Greenbrook Drive. The items were delivered and left at the front door. The missing items are valued at $100.00 dollars.

08/20/2016-A cell phone was stolen from a table during a yard sale on Watchung Avenue. The owner reported she was assisting customers with a purchase and placed her phone down and discovered it missing a few minutes later.

08/21/2016-2 vehicles parked on Davis Avenue were reportedly burglarized. The vehicles were left unlocked. A cell phone charger cord, GPS and money were reported missing from the vehicles.

08/21/2016-A wallet was reported stolen from a vehicle parked on Dalebrook Road. The incident occurred overnight. The vehicle was left unlocked when parked.

CDS

08/22/2016- Michael Lambroschino age 30 of Bloomfield NJ was arrested at 11:33pm and charged with Possession of CDS and Reckless Driving. Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash at Broughton Ave and Elston Street. Mr. Lambroschino who was the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash reported he swerved to avoid hitting an animal. Further investigation by police led officers to believe Mr. Lambroschino was driving while under the influence. Located inside his vehicle were 8 glassine envelopes of suspected heroin, several empty glassine envelopes and a plastic bag of suspected marijuana. He was transported to police headquarters and charged with Possession of heroin, Possession of marijuana, Possession of drug paraphernalia. An active Nutley warrant was also discovered in the amount of $1,000.00 dollars.

08/23/2016-Joyce Meyer age 54 of Bloomfield NJ was arrested at 8:00pm and charged with Possession of CDS. PO Nicolae Toader and PO Argenis Vargas arrested Ms. Meyer after a bystander advised the officers of an intoxicated female walking in the area of Lexington Ave. Ms. Meyer was located by the officers and found to be in possession of 7 glassine envelopes of suspected heroin. She was later transported to her residence after being issued a summons and ROR. She was turned over to a family member.

08/24/2016-Shakeem Sanders age 19 of Paterson NJ was arrested at 10:25pm and charged with Possession of CDS. PO Rueben Rivera and PO Donald Grey conducted a motor vehicle stop at JFK and Franklin Street after observing a black Hyundai in violation of safety glass requirements. The driver Shakeem Sanders was found to be in possession of marijuana. He was issued a summons for the safety glass requirement and ROR on the CDS charge with a pending court date.

Criminal Mischief

08/23/2016- A vehicle parked on Arch Street was vandalized between the hours of 9pm and 1230am. The driver side rear tire was slashed and the front hood was keyed. The vehicle was parked in front of the registered owner’s home.

Burglary

08/25/2016- A garage located on Montgomery Street was burglarized with (2) jack hammers reported missing. The owner reported that the garage is always kept locked. The incident occurred overnight. Detective Bureau currently investigating the Burglary.

Warrant Arrest

08/22/2016-Juan Ramos age 47 of Newark was arrested at 01:51am by PO Rueben Rivera and PO Donald Grey. Mr. Ramos’s warrant arrest was a result of a motor vehicle stop for failure to signal. He was transported to police headquarters. East Windsor PD responded to police headquarters on their warrant. Mr. Ramos was released to their custody.

08/22/2016-Hedji Duval age 22 of Orange NJ was arrested at 8:57am by PO Daniel Jean-Baptiste and PO Salvatore Cordi. Mr. Duval had an active warrant out of Orange in the amount of $81.00 dollars. Mr. Duval was processed and released after posting bail.

08/23/2016-John Russo age 39 of Brick NJ was arrested at 5:15pm by PO George Bambera and PO Nimer. A store employee of 8 Franklin Street flagged down the officers pointing out Mr. Russo, who was previously advised he was not allowed on the property. Mr. Russo had an active warrant out of East Brunswick and was placed under arrest. He was transported to police headquarters. Mr. Russo was ROR with a court date and advised not to return to the property.

.08/245/2016-Jalen Dawkins age 18 of Orange was arrested at 11:54pm by members of the Anti-Crime Unit. The arrest was a result of a motor vehicle stop for inoperable headlamps. PO Anthony Litterio and PO Anthony Batelli observed the vehicle while patrolling the area of Glenwood Ave. Mr. The registered owner Mr. Dawkins was found to have 2 outstanding warrants. He was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. Mr. Dawkins was ROR with a new court date.

Motor Vehicle Theft

08/22/2016- 1999 Acura was reported stolen from Orchard Avenue. The vehicle was left unattended and running with a portable air compressor attached to the tire. The owner was inside the house and returned to discover vehicle missing.

08/23/2016-1998 Honda Civic was reported stolen from Davey Street. The vehicle was parked in the rear parking lot of the complex and discovered missing the next day.

08/26/2016- Officers on patrol discovered a 2007 Jeep Liberty parked on Beardsley Ave. The vehicle was unoccupied with the window shattered, wipers on and the vehicle in drive. The ignition was also discovered damaged. The registered owner was located, who informed police that the vehicle was parked and secured at approximately 9:00pm. The vehicle was processed for evidence.

08/26/2016- 2005 Honda Accord was reported stolen from Oakland Avenue. The registered owner parked her vehicle at 4:00pm and discovered the vehicle missing the next morning.

08/26/2016-2000 Ford Van was reported stolen from Washington Street. The registered owner parked the vehicle in front of his house at 6:00pm and discovered the van missing the next morning at 8:00am.

08/27/2016-A white 1996 Ford Van was reported stolen from Oakwood Avenue. The registered owner parked the vehicle in front of her residence and discovered the van missing the next morning.

Robbery

08/24/2016- Police were dispatched at 10:54pm on a reported Robbery in progress at Franklin Street and Fremont. PO Ana Ruiz and PO Matthew Rubbinaccio arrived on scene and spoke with the 52 year old male victim. The victim reported 2 male suspects approached him after exiting the NJ Transit Bus on Broad Street. The males first asked for a cigarette then asked for money while brandishing a handgun. The victim handed over money and both suspects fled the area on foot. The suspects are described as a white male mid 20’s and a Hispanic male mid 20’s. The Detective Bureau is actively investigating incident.

DUI

08/24/2016- Miguel Sanchez age 27 of Newark NJ was arrested at 1:04am and charged with DUI. Officers observed a black Nissan Maxima disregard a stop sign while making a right turn onto Franklin Street from the parking lot of 8 Franklin Street. The vehicle then continued east at an excessive rate of speed. A motor vehicle stop was conducted with Sgt.Luca Piscitelli immediately detecting a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from the driver. After conducting a Field Sobriety Test it was determined that the driver Mr. Sanchez was under the influence of alcohol. He was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. Mr. Sanchez was issued summons for speeding, disregard of a stop sign and DWI. He was ROR with a pending court date.
