Be Evolution Yoga in Montclair to Evolve Into ZURA

ZURA yogaAfter 10 years of offering Montclair a hot yoga studio — first as Bikram Yoga then Be Evolution Yoga — founder Peter Petrovic, aka Jagadisha, is handing over the business at 18 Lackawanna Plaza to Montclair resident Rebecca Frezza, along with her husband Bob and Cassie and Scott Bollinger.

In addition to new upgrades and renovations, Be Evolution will have a new name. The studio will evolve into ZURA, which means “warrior for good” in Sanskrit.

Frezza has been an instructor at Be Evolution for more than 10 years and teaching at the studio for over five. “Being a part of the strong and diverse yoga community at Be Evolution these many years has been inspirational and has given me a sense of peace and calm during an otherwise unsettled time in my life,” says Frezza.

With her children grown and “out of the nest” Frezza says she had been thinking about the next chapter of her life. “I’ve had the feeling that a direction would reveal itself but I really had no sense of where or when. When Peter, the owner of Be Evolution, mentioned to me that he wanted to sell the studio, I immediately felt this was an opportunity I could not pass up and I jumped at the chance to re-build and enhance this business for a community that has come to mean so much to me.”

Frezza’s movement background inspires new class offerings at ZURA. She has had careers in dance, fitness and now yoga. She says she hopes to bring that focus and passion to the ZURA community by offering classes that are out of the ordinary and inspire people to get their bodies moving.

ZURA, will offer Hot Yoga, Strength and Movement classes. They will be inviting teachers from different disciplines and cultures to come together and create a space where they encourage safe, aligned and mindful exercise practices. Hot Yoga, including Bikram style or Hot 26 classes will remain the cornerstone of the studio. There will also be classes offered focused on strength building such as Xen Strength & Mat Pilates and different movement classes such as belly dancing, afro-Cuban dance, a yoga/dance fusion called “Rhythm Fire” and bodyArt — a hybrid class combining elements of martial arts, yoga, dance and Pilates.

ZURA is set for a soft reopening on September 8 with a Grand Reopening celebration on October 1.
