Glen Ridge Crime: DUI Arrest After Driver Hit a Gas Lamp, Theft, Burglaries from Cars

Incident: Theft
Description: Officer Joseph Uliano responded to the area of Ridgewood Avenue and Cross Street where he met with the victim. The victim reported that his neighbor advised him that on August 11th, 2016 between 1PM and 5PM he had observed an unknown party in the rear of the property. The unknown party then rode a bicycle out the driveway and headed south. The victim reported that the bicycle belonged to him and that it was stolen. Incident: Trespassing
Description: Officer Romaine responded to Madison Street where she met with the caller. The caller stated that she observed an unknown person in the driveway of the neighbor’s house. Incident: Eluding Police Officers
Description: Officer Fuquannah Holley attempted to stop a motor vehicle on Glen Ridge Avenue for a motor vehicle violation. While attempting to stop the vehicle, the driver initiated a pursuit and fled the scene. Surrounding jurisdictions were notified and requested to assist with locating the vehicle. The vehicle was later located and was found to be unoccupied. Any person with information is requested to contact D/Sgt. Daniel Manley at 973-748-5400 x 115

Incident: Driving While Intoxicated
Description: Officer Anthony Rivera responded to the area of Carteret Street for a reported motor vehicle accident where the vehicle had struck a gas lamp. While responding to the scene, patrol units were advised that the vehicle had fled the scene. The vehicle was located on Ridgewood Avenue near Cross Place by officers. While speaking with the driver it was determined that he was intoxicated. Mr. Raul Williams, 26, of East Orange, was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was also charged with additional motor vehicle summonses and Criminal Mischief. This matter has been referred to the Glen Ridge Municipal Court.

Incident: Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance.
Description: While on Bloomfield Avenue, Officer Sean Wilk observed a vehicle commit a motor vehicle violation. Upon stopping the motor vehicle, the driver was determined to be operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. The passenger, Mr. Brendon Satterwhite, 29 of East Orange, was determined to have active warrants for his arrest. While speaking with Mr. Satterwhite, he was also found to be in possession of two controlled dangerous substances. He was charged with Possession of CDS and Possession with the intent to Distribute CDS. This matter has been referred to the Glen Ridge Municipal Court.

Incident: Property Damage/Criminal Mischief
Description: Officer High responded to the 200 block of Sherman Avenue where he met with the complainant. The complainant advised that the driveway was recently paved and that during the evening hours an unknown party had damaged the property. This matter is under investigation and anyone with information is requested to contact D/Sgt. Daniel Manley.

Burglary to Auto: During the past weeks, the Borough has seen an increase in entered vehicles. Residents are requested to assist the police department in our crime fighting efforts by locking all car doors when they are not in use and we request that any suspicious activity be report.

School Opening: Residents are reminded that on September 6th, 2016 School opens for the 2016-2017 year. Parents are requested to drop off students in the designated drop off areas. Students are also reminded to walk safely to school by using designated crosswalks with school crossing guards.

During this week the Glen Ridge Police Department investigated (9) motor vehicle accidents.
