Veggie Mobile Comes to Montclair’s South End

Veggie Mobile

Fourth Ward Councilor Renee Baskerville, in conjunction with the Township of Montclair, HackensackUMC Mountainside, Partners for Health Foundation and City Green, announces the City Green Veggie Mobile – a mobile farm stand that will bring fresh produce and other healthful foods to Montclair’s South End district. The Veggie Mobile will be at the South End Orange Road parking lot behind Schlaefer Masonry from 2- 4 p.m. every other Wednesday, beginning August 24 and continuing through November:

  • August 24
  • September 7, 21
  • October 5, 19
  • November 2, 16

The mobile farm stand will accept SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) cards, WIC (Women, Infants, and Children), SFMNP (Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program) vouchers and cash as payment. The Veggie Mobile will also help stretch families’ dollars:

SFMNP and WIC vouchers will be doubled, up to $10 per customer per day (for example, a $10 voucher is worth $20 at the mobile farm stand).

EBT/SNAP/Families First customers will receive a 50 percent discount on their purchase AND up to $10 in “City Green Bucks” to spend on their next visit to the Veggie Mobile.

In addition, HackensackUMC Mountainside will provide on-site blood pressure and diabetes screenings and nutrition education with healthful recipes from a registered dietitian.
