If you love vintage, then get yourself over to The Find, an eclectic shop on the corner of Walnut Street and Forest Avenue in Montclair.
Kristina Farrell, who co-owns The Find with Leo Astudillo, has a long career working in retail. She worked at the former Montclair toy store Aunt Jean’s Toys & Treats then became a sales associate for Lisa Katzen, who owned Garnish at the same location. When Garnish closed, Kristina decided to take over the lease and open her own shop filled with vintage finds she loves.
Kristina says she has always been drawn to vintage, because “The items come with their own history.” The 26 year old says that millennials are her biggest customers.
The shop is stocked with photos, glassware, postcards, games, jewelry, clothing, furniture…anything Farrell can find that is vintage and interesting. The majority of items sold at The Find are under $75 (I bought myself the most gorgeous necklace for only $15). There are some higher end items like this typewriter I am salivating over for $275:
Or the locally made light fixtures by Plane and Square built using salvaged and reclaimed materials to create signature, one-of-a-kind vintage inspired designs by Scott Miller:
Be prepared to spend a lot of time at The Find, especially if you’re old enough to remember some of the items from your own childhood. I left feeling so nostalgic and kicking myself for throwing away that awesome leather jacket I wore in the 80s, now on sale at The Find.
