The Glen Ridge Marching band, under the direction of Dr. Darren Gage, has just wrapped up a successful weekend that included the Homecoming Halftime Show and a 1st Place win at the opening USBands competition of the season, held at Wayne Valley High School in Wayne, New Jersey.

On Saturday, September 24, the band performed this year’s program, Aaron Copland’s Rodeo, before a packed Hurrell Field Homecoming crowd, debuting new props and choreography. The following day, the Marching Ridgers received 1st place at the Wayne Valley Music in the Valley Competition, with a score of 73.525. The band also scored wins for Best Color Guard, Best Music, Best Overall Effect, Best Percussion, and Best Visual in Division 1A. Special thanks to Glen Ridge Superintendent Dirk Phillips, Glen Ridge High School Principal Louis Melchor, and Glen Ridge High School Assistant Principal Dr. Keisha Harris, for attending the performance.

The band’s next performance will be at the USBands competition in Bayonne, New Jersey on October 8.
