Pies are the comfort foods of desserts. They are the sweet ending to a wonderful Thanksgiving feast. Whether you want to bring a pie to a dinner you are attending or if you’re hosting and want to lighten your load, there is an abundance of delicious Thanksgiving pies to enjoy in our area:
Watchung Plaza’s The Pie Store will still be baking delicious pies, but this year will be order-only and will not have walk-in pies available for pick-up. That means you have to order ahead if you want a Brandied Pumpkin Pie, Coconut Custard Pie with Whipped Cream, and — one of my favorites — Chocolate Mousse Pie with Whipped Cream, as well as several other varieties. Pies from $11.95-$29.95.
In the Company of Yum is a Pop-up Bakery specializing in pies and other treats. Thanksgiving pie orders are being taken until November 20. You can order Sweet Potato Pie, Harvest Pie, Browned Butter Pumpkin, Caramel Apple Crunch, and many more. ($18 – 30) Orders can be made online here.
Tiny Elephant in Montclair has pumpkin and apple pies available in their Thanksgiving catering menu. ($20) Orders must be place by November 19.
Cupcakes by Carousel on Church Street offers homestyle Thanksgiving pies — pumpkin, pumpkin cheese, apple, coconut, pecan, custard and blueberry crumb. Order pies from the Carousel Cakes website by the November 10 and get 15% off. Pies (10 inch) start at $12.
Nicolo’s Italian Bakery & Deli in Montclair, known for great bread, will offer Pumpkin, Wheat, apple and more for Thanksgiving. Pies are $10-$14)
For those looking for gluten-free pies, Plum Bakery in Montclair is the place to go. Order pumpkin, pecan, apple crumb, coconut custrad,cranberry apple crumb or key lime in either 4 inch or 8 inch size. Orders must be places by November 19. ($8 – $32)
