Montclair TV34 has a new station manager and new programming. Frederick Gearhart was hired in December, when he left his job at Princeton Community Television. Prior to that, he worked at Bloomfield’s government access station WBMA-TV. Gearhart is originally from Glen Ridge and graduated from Bloomfield College in 2010.
Gearhart says viewers can expect to see an up-to-date bulletin board (updated daily) featuring government and non-profit community events — there are currently slides from the Montclair Public Library, Montclair Art Museum, and Edgemont House, to name a few. There will also be live streams of the Planning & Town Council Meetings.
TV34 will also feature ceremonial events, Gearhart recently covered the ceremonial puck dropping at the MKA VS. MHS hockey game, the Mayor’s Wellness Challenge Kick-off event, and the 28th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Scholarship breakfast. The station has also partnered with the Montclair Institute for Lifelong Learning and will feature a class by Pierre Fabian starting, as well as working with the Environmental Commission to work on content for videos on local environmental issues.
“My goals for the station are to keep viewers informed about what is going on in their community, while providing informative and entertaining programming. I look forward to serving the residents of Montclair, and by providing programming that keeps them up to date,”says Gearhart.
