Montclair Property Tax Revaluation Info Session to be Held March 8

Montclair Property Tax RevaluationThe Township of Montclair will host a Property Tax Revaluation informational presentation on Wednesday, March 8 at 7 pm in the Municipal Building Council Chambers, 205 Claremont Avenue.

The Township recently contracted Professional Property Appraisers, Inc. (PPA) to provide a revaluation of all Montclair properties as mandated by the Essex County Board of Taxation and the State of New Jersey. PPA will provide an informative presentation about all stages of the tax revaluation process – from initial assessment by a field inspector to procedures for discussing one’s valuation with a PPA representative. Company representatives will be on hand to answer questions from the public.

Katya Wowk, the Township Communications Director, tells us that there isn’t a firm date for the revaluation at the moment, but it will be shortly after the informational presentation. It has to be completed this year because it must be on the books next year.

The last revaluation in Montclair was done in October 2006 for the 2007 tax year. A town-wide reassessment was performed in October 2011 for the 2012 tax year.
