MHS Girls Swimming Looks Forward to Next Year

Senior Samantha Corredor led the Mounties in the 100 fly this season.

Montclair High School girls swim season came to a close at their State sectional quarterfinal meet on February 10 against Pascack Valley. The Mountie girls, who finished the regular season with a 4-5 record were seeded 4th in the tourney and had a bye in the first round. Lagging by 2 points going into the final event, the Mountie girls were in a must-win situation. Montclair captured a strong second and third place in the 400 free relay, but came up short in the point totals.

The Montclair girls were led by senior Samantha Corredor, junior Jordan Caro, sophomores Maya Crawford, Kathrynna Demetillo and Louisa Skerry and freshman Mia Padberg in the individual events. This girls team exhibited strong team spirit all year and that spirit was evident in their final 200 free relay of the season where the Mounties captured first and second place, earning 12 of their 83 points in that one event.
