WINNER: Congratulations to tepperware424!
Outpost in the Burbs will present Teddy Thompson and Kelly Jones on Friday, April 7 and Baristanet has a pair of tickets to give away to one lucky reader! Opening the show will be Sammy Brue.
The best harmony duet singing always confounds basic arithmetic. One plus one, instead of equaling two, suddenly yields an unexpected third thing. An upper-case ONE. A deep vibration. A universal hum that encompasses both male and female viewpoints and conveys more subtle shades of emotion than a single voice can. On Little Windows, the debut album by Teddy Thompson and Kelly Jones, the duo have that kind of ONEness.
Last year, at just fourteen years old, Sammy Brue (a Portland native) released his own EP I Don’t Want You To Leave: a collection of devastatingly beautiful songs that touch on heartbreak, jealousy, God and suicide. The release prompted Rolling Stone to declare the songwriter an “Americana Prodigy” and led to performances at Newport Folk Festival and Summerfest.
Want to see Teddy Thompson and Kelly Jones on Friday night? Tell us your all time favorite duet group by Thursday, April 6 at 9 am EST and we’ll randomly choose a winner to see the show this Friday, April 7 at 8 pm.
