Chef Barret Beyer, featured on Food Network’s “Cutthroat Kitchen” and “Kitchen Casino”, FYI’s “Midnight Feast”, VH1’s “Mob Wives”, and Fox TV’s “Hell’s Kitchen”, will lead a free class on how to make homemade ravioli at Punto Rosso Ristorante, 6 Park Street in Montclair on Thursday, August 17 at 3 p.m. Following the class, Beyer and Punto Rosso’s chef Ryan Vargo will present a three-course dinner, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Michelle’s Place Breast Cancer Resource Center.

“People don’t think of ravioli of something that they can prepare at home, but it’s surprisingly fast and easy to create your own version that’s irresistible,” says Beyer, who travels the world to prepare meals for private as well as fundraising/charitable events. “The fresh fillings that you use are only limited by your imagination, and I’ll demonstrate how much fun homemade ravioli can be to create, and delicious it is to eat.”

Recognized as a Chef of the Month by Food & Beverage Magazine and Chef Works apparel company, Beyer built his resume working at restaurants across the tri-state area. He has lent his award-winning kitchen skills to initiatives that have raised money for breast cancer research, anti-bullying education, survivors of Super Storm Sandy, and tornado victims in Oklahoma.

“My partner Duke and I are honored and thrilled that Barret will be visiting us and giving his innovative ravioli-making advice to our guests,” says Ryan Vargo, chef and co-owner at Punto Russo. “Everyone can expect to get some great suggestions, interesting ideas, and a very tasty experience.”

Chef Barret Beyer’s homemade ravioli demonstration will take place on Thursday, August 17 from 3:00 to 3:30PM at Punto Rosso, 6 Park Street in Montclair. Admission to the event is free, but space is limited, and signups are available at Eventbrite. Following the class, Punto Rosso will present two sittings (5:00PM and 8:00PM) of dinners that will be prepared by Chef Beyer and Chef Vargo. A portion of the proceeds from the dinners will benefit Michelle’s Place Breast Cancer Resource Center in Temecula, CA, a non-profit provider of detection, support, and education services. For more information about the free class or the dinners, contact Punto Rosso at (973) 337-8323.

I'm struck by how much attention is being paid to the details of a parking lot, as opposed to the attention paid to the future impact of the monstrous projects being planned.
