Montclair Crime: Unlawful Possession of Handgun Arrest, Bike Theft, Package Theft

The week in Montclair crime from D/Lt. David O’Dowd, Montclair Police Department:

Arrest

08-08-2017 (Pine Street) Ms. Amani Taylor, 33yoa from Newark, was arrested for acting disorderly and refusing to comply with officers at the scene of a disturbance.

08-09-2017 (Madeline, South Park Street) Mr. Isaiah Nesbit, 25yoa from Orange, was arrested for shoplifting numerous pieces of jewelry from the store.

08-10-2017 (Walnut Street) Mr. Dontch Charles, 25yoa from Irvington, was arrested during a traffic stop when officers observed that he was in possession of a handgun. Mr. Charles was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Handgun.

08-11-2017 (North Fullerton Avenue) Mr. George Cason, 58yoa from Montclair, was arrested on outstanding warrants totaling $2,850.

08-14-2017 (Miller Street) Mr. Michael Emanuel (24yoa from Montclair) was arrested after being discovered attempting to steal a motor vehicle. He was charged with Burglary, Theft, and Resisting Arrest for fleeing officers, resulting in a foot pursuit.

Burglary/Theft

08-07-2017 (Walnut Street) Theft of a bicycle which had been locked to the Train Station bike rack.

08-08-2017 (Walnut Street) Theft of an unlocked bicycle from the rear yard of a residence.

08-08-2017 (North Willow Street) Theft of a delivered package from the front of a residence. This package contained personal electronics.

08-08-2017 (South Mountain Avenue) Theft of loose change from an unlocked motor vehicle.

08-09-2017 (Pierson Place) Theft of a delivered package from the front porch of a residence.

08-10-2017 (South Willow Street) Burglary to an unlocked residential garage. A bicycle was taken in this incident.

08-14-2017 (Miller Street) An unlocked vehicle was rummaged through. It is unknown if anything was taken.

08-14-2017 (North Willow Street, Alex and Leo Auto) Attempted burglary to a commercial establishment. A window was smashed in this incident. It does not appear that anything was taken.

    I just don’t understand where are the police are? It seems like every week it is the same areas being hit with crime. I hardly see any cops out on the streets at night let alone the daytime.
    They should be patrolling the areas more often.

    Exactly, @mtc!

    The theft of loose change from parked cars is OUT OF CONTROL!! We need the National Guard called in pronto!!!

    I mean, @mtc’s eagle-eyed observations about the prevalence of police patrols should have us all quaking in fear and locking ourselves in our houses!!!!
