Over 300 Turkeys Given To Bloomfield Families At Mayor Venezia’s 2nd Annual Turkey Drive at Brookdale ShopRite

Sunday marked Bloomfield Mayor Michael Venezia’s 2nd Annual Turkey Drive. Residents collected turkeys and stuffing supplies at ShopRite on Broad Street. In total, 335 turkeys were given out to local families to celebrate the upcoming holiday.

“Having lived in Bloomfield my entire life, I understand that community involvement is what makes our town so great, and I am proud to play a role in hosting events like the Annual Turkey Drive to help local families fully enjoy the holiday,” said Mayor Michael Venezia. “There are so many people to thank for their financial contributions, as well as for taking to time to assemble and distribute turkeys and stuffing, including Bloomfield Councilman Nicholas Joanow, Bloomfield Police Lt. Naomi Zepeda, Bloomfield Township Manager Matthew Watkins, Bloomfield Police Officer Yesenia Aponte, Assistant to Mayor and Council Diana Aviles, Bloomfield Health and Human Services Director Paula Peikes, Luis Felix Jessica Marney, Ana Y. Rodriguez Kathy Hempstead DeMarino Rodney P.W. Cauthen, and so many members of the DPW and Recreation Department staff.”

Other event sponsors included ShopRite and Neil Greenstein, (fresh vegetables and stuffing); Columbus Hospital (pies); Knock Knock Give A Sock (socks); and KinderSmile Foundation (toothbrushes). The Bloomfield Police Youth Foundation, Neighbor to Neighbor Network, and many residents and local businesses provided monetary contributions.
