This Friday, Dec. 1, celebrate the holiday tree lighting on Church Street in Downtown Montclair starting at 5:30 pm and continuing through 8 pm. The evening’s festivities will feature musical performances, roving carolers, family activities, s’more making and a visit from Santa. The event is free.

The evening will begin with a performance by the Community Band at 5:30 pm; followed by remarks by Deputy Mayor Robin Schlager at 6 pm. Singer Victoria Skie will perform holiday songs. Then the countdown begins for the tree lighting (and Santa’s arrival!). Afterwards, family activities on Church Street will include children’s crafts on Candy Cane Lane, acrobat/hula performances from Izabella ELF, a stilt walker, carols from the Fabulous Fezziwigs and stations to make your own s’mores.

The event is sponsored by the Township of Montclair’s Recreation Department, the Montclair Center BID and the Montclair Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association. Special thanks to the generous sponsorship and assistance of Applegate Farms.
