Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident Investigation: Bus Did Not Stop; Montclair Au Pair From Israel Killed



Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino and Montclair Police Chief Todd M. Conforti announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Montclair Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle incident that resulted in the death of Maya Moar, a 26 year old au pair from Holon, Israel who was working for a Montclair family.

The incident occurred at Grove Street and Mt. Hebron Road at approximately 6 pm. It appears based on the preliminary investigation that the victim was struck by a DeCamp bus as she exited the bus. The bus did not stop.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:48 pm yesterday.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
