UPDATED: Pedestrian Fatality at Grove Street and Mt. Hebron In Montclair

1:45 p.m., Sunday: Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino and Montclair Police Chief Todd M. Conforti announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Montclair Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle incident that resulted in the death of Maya Moar, a 26 year old au pair from Holon, Israel who was working for a Montclair family.

The incident occurred at Grove Street and Mt. Hebron Road at approximately 6 pm. It appears based on the preliminary investigation that the victim was struck by a DeCamp bus as she exited the bus. The bus did not stop.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:48 pm yesterday.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
