Montclair Crime: Shoplifting, Burglary, Theft

The week in Montclair crime from David O’Dowd, Detective Lieutenant, Montclair Police Department:

Burglary/Theft

02-27-2018 (Curtis Terrace) A garage was entered and rummaged through, but nothing reported missing. There was no sign of forced entry.

02-28-2018 (Irving Street) A parked vehicle was entered and rummaged through, but nothing reported taken.

02-28-2018 (Grove Street) Theft of a bicycle which had been left chained to a fence.

03/02/2018 (Sutherland Road) An unlocked vehicle was entered. The glove box was rummaged through but nothing was reported missing.

03/03/2018 (Trinity Place) A suspect forced entry into a locked storage shed and stole a children’s bicycle and an unknown amount of clothing. The suspect is described as a white male, gray scruffy beard, wearing a green puffy jacket, blue jeans, black sneakers, and eye glasses.

Arrest

02-28-2018 (Bloomfield Avenue) A 50-year-old Montclair man was arrested on an open warrant out of Union Township.

03-01-2018 (Pleasant Way) Four juvenile males were observed on bicycles in rear yards looking into cars and checking for unlocked door handles. When officers responded they fled. Two of the males were located and charged with obstruction. One was in possession of a stolen bicycle.

03-04-2018 (Claremont Avenue) An officer performing a store check observed a female running from the store with an employee chasing after her. After being stopped it was determined that she had just stolen numerous items. A 33-year-old woman was arrested and charged with shoplifting.
