Today, Bloomfield Director of Public Safety Samuel DeMaio released the following statement regarding the fatal shooting that occurred today in Milbank Park:

“The Bloomfield Police Department is working with the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force on the homicide which occurred in Milbank Park this morning. While we are still in the very early stages of the investigation, this does not appear to be a random act of violence. The Bloomfield Police will maintain a heavy police presence in the area today, though we see no indication at all that there will be future violence related to this incident. This appears to be an isolated incident.”

Shortly after 8:30 am, Bloomfield police officers responded to the area of Milbank Park on North 17th street on a report of a shooting.
