Patti Smith Rocks Montclair Literary Festival (VIDEO)

Legendary singer and poet Patti Smith, joined by longtime guitarist, Lenny Kaye, created magic at First Congregational Church Sunday as the finale to the Montclair Literary Festival.

Smith read poems and other passages centered around “devotion” and performed songs including “Because The Night,” “People Have The Power” and “Can’t Help Falling In Love” to a captivated packed house.

Glen Ridge’s Erika Blieberg, who captured this video, compared listening to Smith in the majestic church to hearing “the voice of a rock and roll angel.”
