Baristanet Guide To Indoor Water Parks

By the time Spring Break rolls around, most of us are tired of the cold and dreary weather. But what happens when you can’t get away to where the sun is and it’s still not quite warm enough for a splashing and swimming here at home? One option is to head to one of the area’s indoor water parks where it’s summer year-round!

There are plenty of options in the area that are close enough for a day trip but equally suitable for a mini-getaway. These four waterparks have accommodations and packages available, but an overnight stay is not required to use the waterpark.

Kalahari Resort

This Pocono Manor playspace bills itself as America’s largest indoor waterpark where it’s always 84 degrees and sunny. Enjoy slides, a lazy river, and a zero-depth entry water play area for the smaller children. Bodyboard or surf on the Flowrider, a 5-foot wave simulator. Obsessed with mermaids? You can become one!

How far is it? Kalahari Resort is about 80 miles from Montclair.

What else is there? For those who want a mini-getaway, accommodations are available in a variety of sizes. When you get tired of the water, visit the Big Game Room, Escape Rooms, mini golf, mini bowling, the 7-D Motion Theater, or the Arena Ultimate VR Experience. Dining options include several family restaurants, the Pizza Pub, Marrakesh Market, the Great Karoo Marketplace Buffet, and more.

CoCo Key Water Resort

Located in Mount Laurel, NJ, CoCo Key boasts over 55,000 square feet of fun with 150,000 gallons of water! There are a variety of slides and activities for kids of all ages (and adults too!). Parrot’s Perch is the signature interactive aquatic jungle gym. It features zero depth entry, slides, water cannons, and a bucket dump. There’s also the 300-foot Coconut Grove Lazy River, Dip-In wading pool for the little ones, Lily Pad Adventure activity pool, and more.

How far is it? CoCo Key Water Resort is approximately 84 miles from Montclair.
What else is there? There are several dining options available including a grab-and-go, a coffee shop with snacks, and a sit-down restaurant. If you’d like to stay the night, The Hotel ML is on the same grounds for convenient accommodations.

Sahara Sam’s Oasis

This water oasis in West Berlin, NJ, has slides, a family leisure pool, a lazy river, a surfing simulator, an adventure playland, a family slide, an obstacle course, and an area especially for toddlers. Two attractions, Tut’s Twisters and Cleopatra’s Cove are new additions to the park.

How far is it? Sahara Sam’s Oasis is about 92 miles from Montclair.
What else is there? The Desert Palm Café has a variety of food for a meal or a snack. For some drier fun, check out Sam’s Arcade featuring games, skee ball, cranes, and more. If you’d like to spend the night, the website a variety of hotel partners nearby. You can also head over to Digggerland, which is about a half mile away and open daily for Spring Break week.


(428 Moseywood Road, Lake Harmony, PA) is located within Split Rock Resort in the Poconos. It has three four-story slides, a wave pool, and Jungle Falls and Leapin’ Lillypads play areas, so there is plenty of fun for all ages. If you’re looking for a little relaxation while the kids splash, take a dip in the hot tubs. Lockers are available to rent on the premises.

What else is there? Split Rock Resort offers a variety of specials if you’d like to stay for longer than the day. The resort also has a movie theater, a bowling alley, an arcade, mini golf, and outdoor activities year-round. Dining options include several restaurants, snack bars, and a food court.
