Name: Rashaun “Shaun” Hall

Where do you live? Upper Montclair

When did you move there? November 2016

Where did you grow up? Newark

How do you make a living? Digital by day, Spirits and Pop Culture on Shot Caller Podcast by night.

Coffee, tea or … ? Coffee…black and often!

What’s your idea of a perfect weekend day? Have a cup of coffee, walk our dog, Silent Bob, and then spending the day with my wife — usually discussing our next house projects or just hanging out. We will try to find new places in town to check out; Modclair has been a recent favorite. Our schedules are so crazy that any time that we can be together is appreciated. I would end the day with a nitecap, usually from a craft distillery like Virgil Kaine or Clifton’s Silk City.

What’s your favorite local restaurant? Bivio Panifico, especially the Bianca.

What’s on your nightstand? My wallet, phone, a coaster for a beverage and usually a random receipt or two.

What are you listening to? Podcasts — I listen to a bunch of them. My current favorites include The Daily Beast’s Life Behind Bars and NPR’s It’s Been A Minute.

What are your current indulgences? I am, by and large, a whiskey guy, but I have recently become obsessed with Aperol Spritzes.

What talent would you most like to have? The ability to truly multitask — like my wife.

What’s the worst-kept (or best-kept!) secret about Montclair? The best-kept secret about Montclair is how dog-friendly the town is. The BYOB restaurants aren’t so bad either.

What do you hope they say about you at your funeral? This guy knows how to throw a funeral!
