Montclair’s got talent!

Showdown Montclair showed just how rich Montclair is when it comes to talent (as well as good sports) last Saturday when Montclair Fund For Educational Excellence (MFEE) held its first ever talent showcase event to raise funds for Montclair schools at the Women’s Club in Upper Montclair.

The evening started with yummy cocktails, delicious bites and DJ Prince Hakim spinning tunes to get everyone in the mood. Then, Glenfield teacher extraordinaire Frances Aboushi, acting as emcee for the evening, got the show started and kept it moving in her own comedic and inimitable style.

One after one, amazing talent acts as well as lipsync battlers took the stage and wowed the crowd.

Winners were chosen by a panel of talented judges — Dalton Ross, Alison Scott-Williams, Stearns Matthews, & Samad Savage — and by the audience, who voted for the winner of the People’s Choice Award.

The winners are below, but the biggest winners are the students of Montclair Schools who will benefit from funds raised by MFEE with the help of the community at this fantastic event.

Capturing the spirit of the evening was Montclair High School senior Noah Gale, who sang Kumbaya Montclair, to close out the evening’s festivities.
