The Montclair Art Museum’s Yard School of Art is celebrating its 20th Anniversary year! It’s easy to see why SummerART has been named the #1 Art Camp in New Jersey year after year. From pottery to painting, from nature and Native American art to mixed media and YouTube videos, there is a camp to spark every imagination, build academic skills, and foster boundless creativity.

Ages 5–12: MAM’s theme-based SummerART Camp
Perfect for active learners and creative thinkers!
Campers experiment with a variety of mediums with projects inspired by science, sports, the environment, and more! New themes this summer include Inside Out exploring the human body, Fab Lab learning from great inventions, and Push Play inspired by sports and games.

Ages 8–12: Print Power, Illustration and Design, Fashion, Creative Coding
For budding activists, fashion designers, computer coders who want to ignite their passions and build their skills!

Print Power is for kids who have something to say and want their voices to be heard! Campers will explore printmaking as a medium for self-expression and social activism by creating posters, postcards, and t-shirts. In Fashion Illustration and Design campers learn drawing skills with an introduction to sewing, to create a piece of wearable art modelled in a fashion show. At Creative Coding in MAM’s Digital Media Lab, campers are introduced to basic computer science concepts while applying logic and problem-solving skills to create interactive animations.

Ages 8–10: Art in Motion
For active artists and those who love a physical challenge!
Art in Motion, a new interdisciplinary camp, encourages children of all abilities to explore kinetic art and creative movement. Offered in partnership with the NJAPE.org Inclusive Movement Center at their Cornerstone Montclair location, this camp develops thinking skills through imaginative play. Campers design and complete obstacle courses, navigate overhead challenges, and scale a rock wall. Translating movement into visual art, they create kinetic sculptures, gestural drawings, and action paintings!

Ages 12–15: Unexpected Creations: Mixed Media and 3D Art
Find your unique artistic voice by exploring the unconventional!
Students experiment with a variety of techniques and media, such as collage, clay, wax, and plaster as well as found and recycled objects, while learning the basic elements of design. They create both abstract and representational sculptural pieces.

Ages 13–15: DIY How-To Videos
Show off your DIY style, favorite hacks, and how-to’s!
Students produce online video tutorials demonstrating a craft or new art technique in a short instructional video. Learn to use post-production editing software to add music and narration with the Adobe Creative Suite, then post a tutorial video on YouTube and Instagram.

These topics and more at SummerART expose campers to the rich history, dynamic present and future of art, mixing creativity with its practical applications for everyday life.

Scholarships are available, and MAM’s SummerART program now offers before-care so campers stay cool and creative all day long.
