Kids and teens need summer camp options where they can unplug and experience adventure, healthy fun, personal growth and make memories. If you’re looking for a great summer for your child, the YMCA of Montclair has 10 camps to choose from for ages 3-15. In this post we’re focusing on Explorers and Voyagers. Explorers, a full-day camp for ages 8-11, is located at B’nai Keshet in Montclair. Campers have fun while making new friends, developing new skills, learning core values, building self-confidence, appreciating teamwork and growing in self-reliance. Campers will participate in a variety of age appropriate activities and trips to local destinations based on weekly themes. Each week includes a big and a mini field trip including the Palisades Climb Adventure, Museum of the Moving Image, the New York Aquarium and Splashplex at the Funplex, to name a few. It also includes swimming at the Y’s Park Street Branch, science, outdoor education, Zumba®, arts and crafts and more. Sign your camper up for one week or all ten. Camp runs June 25-August 31.
Voyagers, a travel camp that offers a variety of trips for your 12–14 year old, including one overnight to Club Getaway in CT and trips to Mountain Creek Water Park, Coastal Sports, Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom and Laser One. Your camper will have the opportunity to paddle, swim, soar, climb and give back to the community through volunteer projects, all while building confidence and gaining life skills in a valuable learning environment. In house opportunities include drama, art, sports, cooking and swimming at the Y’s Park Street Branch. Sign your camper up for one week or all six. Camp runs July 9-August 17. Voyagers is based out of the Central Presbyterian Church in Montclair.
