Montclair Crime: Burglary, Theft, Arrest

The week in Montclair crime from D/Lt. David O’Dowd, Montclair Police Department:


10-09-2018 (Noches De Columbia, Elm Street) Theft of an unattended pocketbook from inside the restaurant. The suspect is described as a heavy-set African American female wearing a beige baseball hat, gray sweater, and blue jeans.

10-10-2018 (Midland Avenue) Burglary to a garage. A vehicle inside the garage was entered and a gift card stolen. Access to the garage was gained by smashing a window.

10-10-2018 (Balonze, Valley Road) Burglary to a commercial establishment. Approximately $1,200 in cash was stolen in this incident. Entry was gained through a rear door.

10-10-2018 (Midland Avenue) Burglary to a shed in the rear of a residence. Numerous power tools were taken in this incident.

10-14-2018 (St. Luke’s church, S. Fullerton Avenue) Theft of an envelope containing approximately $106 in proceeds from their pumpkin sale.

10-15-2018 (Bellevue Avenue) Burglary to an apartment. A wallet and two cellular telephones were taken. There were no signs of forced entry.


11-14-2018 (Plymouth Street Lot) The front windshield of a parked vehicle was smashed with a rock.


10-14-2018 (Mission Street) A 21-year-old Montclair woman was arrested on an open warrant out of the Essex County Sheriff’s Office.
