Montclair Crime: Burglary, Theft, Vandalism


The week in Montclair crime from D/Lt. David O’Dowd, Montclair Police Department:


10-16-2018 (Bellevue Avenue) A resident observed a male standing in his kitchen rummaging through his belongings. This suspect then fled on foot through the rear of the residence. This suspect is described as an African American male in dark clothing.

10-18-2018 (Upper Mountain Avenue) Burglary to a residence. Entry was gained by damaging the front entryway door. Jewelry was taken in this incident.

10-18-2018 (Oak Place) Theft of numerous tools from two work vans. The van doors were damaged to gain entry.

10-18-2018 (Oak Place) Theft of a 2010 Chevrolet Express work-van containing diving equipment.

10-18-2018 (N. Mountain Avenue) Theft of a tan 2011 Chevy Equinox from a residential driveway.

10-19-2018 (Sylvan Place) Attempted burglary to a work-van. A rear lock was damaged but entry was not gained.

10-19-2018 (Glenfield School) Theft of an iPhone from a locker in the boy’s locker room.

10-19-2018 (Bloomfield Avenue) Theft of a 2008 white Ford work-van from a commercial parking lot.

10-20-2018 (Roberto’s, Lackawanna Plaza) Burglary to a commercial establishment. Approximately $300 was taken from the register. No sign of forced entry.


10-17-2018 (S. Fullerton Avenue) Vandalism to a parked motor vehicle. The owner discovered that their front windshield had been smashed.


10-20-2018 (Bloomfield Avenue) A 29-year-old East Orange man was arrested and charged with DWI.
