A swearing-in ceremony was held for three probationary firefighters, who will start their training to join the ranks of the Montclair Fire Department (MFD). Rocco Marzullo, John Autorino and James Firebrace were sworn in by Municipal Clerk Linda Wanat during a ceremony held Tuesday morning in township Council Chambers.
Rocco Marzullo is a lifelong Montclair resident and Montclair High School graduate. He was an HVAC engineer before being hired as a probationary firefighter.
John Autorino currently lives in Montclair and is a graduate of North Caldwell High School. He was studying to become an electrician before being hired by the MFD.
James Firebrace is also a lifelong Montclair resident and a Montclair High School graduate. He was a TSA agent prior to being hired as a probationary firefighter.
Over the next nine weeks, the three will attend the Morris County Fire Academy for training and certifications required to become a firefighter in the State of New Jersey. The academy will include physical fitness training, academics, live burn training as well as a host of other areas of instruction. Upon completion of the academy, they will have to successfully complete a year as probationary firefighters with the MFD in order to be sworn in as full-fledged firefighters.
