Saying Goodbye To Plochs Garden Center

Plochs Garden Center has been sold and will close in mid November (a storage center may replace it) but until then, it’s open Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 1 p.m. and almost everything (propane and birdseed excluded) is on sale for 50-70% off. The 1.85-acre property is located where Broad Street, Allwood Road, Route 3 and the Garden State Parkway intersect.

Richfield Farms in Clifton, which has been around since 1917, had a plan to develop its property, but Clifton officials have expressed interest, with one idea being buying some of the farm to preserve it as open space.

This Sunday, October 14, Richfield Farms hosts its 1st Annual Harvest Fest (details below).

  1. Some people may be confused about Ploch’s Garden Center and Ploch’s Farm. They have no relationship to each other, and Ploch’s Farm isn’t going anywhere, so no need to say farewell.
The farm is run by a great family, and their produce is the best and very fairly priced. They grow everything they sell. They are only open seasonally. I am a long-term customer and fan of what is a real working farm in the middle of a city.

  2. I rejoice that Ploch’s Farm will be staying… I will miss going to the Garden Center with almost 60 years of my childhood Pumpkin and Christmas Tree memories…
