Strong Performance For Montclair Kimberley Cross Country Teams


The Montclair Kimberley Academy Varsity Girls’ Cross Country team took 4th overall in the Essex County Championship on October 26.

For the second year in a row, Senior Anna Schaller (Montclair) won the Essex County Girls Cross Country Championship. Schaller ran 18:19, beating her previous personal best by 27 seconds.

The other top MKA finisher was Junior Anna Bradley (Essex Fells), who finished 4th in 19:39.

MKA Boys Varisty Boys Cross Country Team at the NJISAA Prep State Championships.

On the Varsity Boys side, Junior Charlie Koenig (Ho-Ho-Kus), finished 4th with a time of 16:00.

Both the MKA Boys and Girls Teams also had a strong finish at the NJISAA Prep B State Championships on October 24, with both teams finishing second.

Koenig won the NJISAA Prep B State Championships with a winning time of 17:07. Junior Jack Wilkin (Montclair) placed sixth with a time of 17:46 and senior Victor Magnuson (Glen Ridge) placed 10th with a time of 18:17.

The girls team also had a strong performance with four runners in the top 20. Schaller was fourth in 20:00. Bradley came in sixth in 20:52.

Freshman Emma Burd (Maplewood) came in 12th 21:42 and Freshman Lauren Schier (West Orange) came in 14th with a time of 22:05.

“Both the boys and girls on our team have great spirit,” said head coach Matthew Bach. “While small in numbers, they continue to pull off impressive victories.”
