Two Men Killed In Fatal Glen Ridge Car Crash

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Glen Ridge Police Chief Sheila Byron-Lagattuta announced today that the Glen Ridge Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating a fatal crash that occurred last night that resulted in two deaths.

At approximately 10 p.m. yesterday two men were killed in a single-car fatal crash in the area of High Street and Bloomfield Avenue in Glen Ridge.

They were pronounced dead at the scene. The preliminary investigation indicates they were traveling in a 2008 Mercedes Benz when the driver hit a light pole which caused the car to hit a tree and burst into flames.

The driver of the car, Galo G. Flores, 25, of Harrison was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:17 p.m. The passenger, Carlos Nieves, 20, of Newark was also pronounced dead at the scene at 10:17 p.m.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
