Montclair Crime: Vehicle Theft and Theft From Unlocked Vehicles

The week in crime from D/Lt. David O’Dowd, Montclair Police Department:


02-09-2019 (Bloomfield Avenue) A 54-year-old West Orange woman was arrested and charged with DWI.


02-06-2019 (Pine Street) Theft of a 2014 white Ford work van from a parking lot.

02-09-2019 (Bellevue Avenue) Theft of a 2015 Volvo V60 from a residential driveway. The key may have been left in the vehicle.

02-10-2019 (Wendover Road) An unlocked vehicle was entered in the driveway of a home. Items were rummaged through, but nothing reported missing.

02-10-2019 (Berkeley Place) Attempted theft of a 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser. The steering column was damaged in this incident.

02-11-2019 (Erwin park Road) Theft of loose change from an unlocked motor vehicle.

02-11-2019 (Forest Street) Theft of ladder racks from the roof of a construction vehicle.

02-11-2019 (Greenwood Avenue) Theft of a 2006 beige Toyota Sienna van from a parking lot.


On 2/6/2019 at approximately 0151Hrs, a white male, 25-40yoa, 6’ -6’3” in height, wearing a jacket with the hood up, entered the CVS on Claremont Avenue. This suspect approached the checkout counter with a number of items from the store. As the cashier was ringing up his purchase, he handed her a note which demanded money and stated that he was in possession of a gun. The cashier gave the suspect $40 from the register. He fled the store with the cash and the note. No injuries reported. This incident is currently under investigation.
