Bloomfield Police Arrest and Charge Suspect In Repeated Package Theft

An arrest has been made in the investigation of two separate package thefts. In both instances, the suspect stole packages from the victims’ porches, first in February, and then last week. The total amount of proceeds taken are valued at $825.

Home security footage from the victims’ residences, and their neighbors’ obtained by the Detective Bureau captured the suspect’s appearance. After sending an APB, an East Orange Police Detective contacted Bloomfield Police Sergeant Chad Smith and identified the suspect as 51-year-old East Orange resident Ronald Allen.

“With the name and address of our suspect, Detective Frank Falco and Lieutenant Michael Sisco waited for the suspect to leave his residence, and then made an arrest on Thursday evening,” said Director of Public Safety Samuel DeMaio. “When neighboring Police Departments work together we are able to solve more cases, more quickly, bringing closure to victims and keeping our neighborhoods safe. I would like to thank East Orange Detective Lantiqua for helping us identify the suspect.”

Allen was charged with two counts of theft and issued a criminal summons.
