Montclair Crime: Package Theft, Burglary, Arrests

The week in Montclair crime from D/Lt. David O’Dowd, Montclair Police Department:


02-19-2019 (Grove Street) Attempted theft of a delivered package. When confronted by the homeowner, the suspect dropped the package and left the area on a bicycle. He is described as an African-American male, approximately 40-50 years old, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark colored jacket and glasses.

02-20-2019 (Pine Street) Attempted burglary to a vehicle. A suspect was observed trying to enter the vehicle using a pry tool. He is described as an African-American male, mid-40’s, approximately 5’1-5’3 in height, medium build, wearing a black sweatshirt, Gray winter hat, with jeans or sweatpants.

02-21-2019 (Maple Avenue) Attempted burglary to a detached garage. The suspect was not successful in gaining entry to the structure. He is described as being 5’6” in height, medium build, wearing all black clothing including a black winter hat and black hooded sweatshirt.

02-21-2019 (Wheeler Street) Attempted burglary to an apartment. The front entry door was damaged but access was not gained to the home.

02-23-2019 (High Street) Burglary to a residential garage. Two bicycles were taken in this incident.

02-23-2019 (Pine Street) Theft of clothing items from a delivered package.


02-19-2019 (James Street) A 35-year-old Montclair man was arrested and charged with DWI.

02-19-2019 (Bloomfield Avenue) A 47-year-old Montclair woman was arrested on an open warrant out of Montclair for $1,500.

02-23-2019 (Claremont Avenue) A 32-year-old Somerset woman was arrested and charged with DWI.
