Ilson Goncalves, chef/owner of Samba Montclair, will be competing on Food Network’s Chopped. The episode, You’ve Got Snail!, debuts next Tuesday, April 9 at 9pm. Here’s what Goncalves is up against:

Gonçalves opened Samba Montclair in December 2010 as a deli with a few Brazilian specials. Today, the menu celebrates the authentic cooking he grew up eating at his mother’s home and restaurant in Blumenau, Brazil. Gonçalves is a graduate of Natural Gourmet Institute in New York City, and the author of The Samba Montclair Cookbook (A Life in Print, 2017). He has appeared in NJ Monthly, The Star-Ledger and The New York Times and on News 12 NJ, PIX 11, WABC News and NBC’s Today.
